Three primary schools for Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, procured by WEPCo through the Welsh Government’s Mutual Investment Model. In each case the new school went up alongside the existing one, so pupils stayed in class throughout the build. All three are designed to run at net zero carbon.
Llanilltud Faerdref, Pontypridd. A 1,650 m² single-storey school with room for 240 pupils and 30 nursery children. Outside there is an outdoor classroom, a games area and a car park with EV charging. Opened in April 2024.
Penygawsi, Llantrisant. A 2,150 m² English-medium school for 310 pupils and 45 nursery children, planned as three wings around a central shared space. Once the new building opened, the old school was cleared to make way for parking, two games areas and a grass pitch. Opened in July 2024.
Pontyclun. A 3,000 m² two-storey school for 540 pupils, including a 60-place nursery, with space for community use, two games areas and EV charging.
